I have already put a dry rub on it. The rub was mixed with cider vinegar and oil. Should I cook it in the crock pot as is or should I add water or something else?

Many call it BBQ shredded Crock pot pulled pork because it looks like shredded pork, but technically it is BBQ pulled pork. But, if you’d like call it shredded pork, no-one will care. Once it’s cooked, the way it became its name is from using your hands, or a fork, to literally twist and pull the pork beef away from the fat, and to separate it from the bone.

The cut of meat excellent for pulled pork comes from the higher part of the shoulder from the front leg of a hog. It is named the Boston Butt, or pork shoulder. At your favourite butcher shop, asked them for a bone-in, pork shoulder.

Before you barbecue, wash entirely and pat dry. Trim as much fat off it as you can. To get the most out of your cooking experience you may need to add a quality dry rub to the pork shoulder. Fundamentally, what it does is tenderizes the beef and gives it a tantalizing BBQ taste.

You can go to the grocery store and purchase a pre-packaged dry rub. Don’t use tin foil or pans. Place the beef in the container and pour, or shake, a generous amount of dry rub on it. Repeat!

Next, pour a combination of plain yellow mustard and / or honey over the Crock pot pulled pork. You could have to heat the honey up to get it to spread properly. Use a brush and cover all the sides. Refrigerate overnight with the cover closed firmly on the marinating pan.

If you don’t, you may burn the outside. Really, a shallow range roasting pan will work, too.

On the gas grill, you only need to light one side of the grill. With a charcoal griddle, place the lit briquets on one side of the unit. Place the roast directly on the dark site of the griddle, don’t use the cookie rack and pan. This is a long, long cooking time.

Use correct airflow. Bottom vents open when pre-heating, open top vents when cooking on indirect heat. Once you have everything setup, you wish to keep the lids on the barbies, and oven closed. Don’t turn the Crock pot pulled pork shoulder while cooking.

You must mop the pork shoulder to add flavour and moisture to it. A half cup of juice, apple or orange will often suffice. Add a big spoon of the vinegar.

You’ll need to add charcoal along the line.

along with the smoker box, purchase pre-packed wood chips. They come in all sorts of flavors, but you may want to stick to fruit woods for the pulled pork. Soak the wood chips for no less than 30 mins before putting them in the smoker box. While you are cooking the pork shoulder, place the box on the lit side of the grill.

Let it sit for a least a half hour to 45 minutes before serving. Pull apart the crust and take away the bone. You can do this by pulling it apart with a fork or using your fingers.

Place the beef on a cutting board and chop it up with a knife. Serve on Texas Toast or eat it by itself with, or without a dipping sauce. Hope you like this straightforward shredded crock pot pulled pork recipe.

In our fast lives today, almost nobody has the time to cook on slow cookers. Yet, at times these traditional methods of cooking are great fun and a real good change from the daily chores.

Often known as the dust collector, these can be one among the most useful items of our kitchen. Here are some simple ideas to use the crock pots or slow cookers more effectively.

1. The idea is that the size of the roasts must be apt for the crock pot. In case the pieces are too big and you try to stuff them in to the crock pot forcibly, the cooking won’t be as effective or might take rather more time. This is one of the most commonly used tips for crock pot cooking.

2. While cooking poultry, remove the skin. In case of the other meats, trim the excess fats before cooking. This way, you can add to the taste by reducing the greasy flavor and as the finished meal would have lesser fats, it would be rather healthy to consume.

3. Crock pot cooking can also become tastier with the help of vegetables. Carrots, onions, potatoes, and other fresh root vegetables can be placed at the container’s bottom, under the meat. This way these vegetables can be cooked better as they take more time to cook as compared to meat.

4. Now let’s talk about the liquids. When you are thickening the sauces, just while the process is near to end, turn on to high heat. Make sure to taste the liquid once, so that it is assured that it has got enough time to be cooked and become flavorful. In case it still lacks the flavor, allow the dish to simmer at low heat for some time.

5. Remember crock pot cooking often dilutes the flavor over long time intervals. So be careful while choosing the seasoning to add and check when to add the same. Before removing the container make sure that you taste the dish for seasoning. Seasonings such as seasoned salt & pepper, garlic powder, and complementary herbs & spices are good options to be added and this must be done at almost the end of the cooking procedure.

6. Also remember that slow cooking mars the colors of food. In order to make the food more presentable, try adding some garnishes like chopped fresh tomatoes, parsley, chives, green or red peppers. Do these towards the end of your cooking process.

7. Another advice that we can offer is to buy cook books dedicated to slow cookers. These books are a great compilation of delicious recipes and simple tips & tricks to make the cooking more fun. You can do this online as well, that is bon the World Wide Web or the internet.

Once you start relishing these slow cooked, dishes these would seem like a treat to the entire family.

Cooking is a part of anyone’s life or at least it should be. There is nothing like a home cooked meal that waits on the table after a long and stressful day at work to enhance the felling of ‘home, sweet home’. Be that as it may, the lifestyles we are engaged in do not permit us to spend countless hours in the kitchen in order to prepare those delicious foods everyone loves.

Because of this we have been searching for alternative methods to provide food for our family. Take-outs, fast-foods and various restaurants are all becoming an important part of our daily diets. But what if you could find another solution that can provide healthy food for your loved ones?

Most of us might have a slow cooker or a crock pot stashed away in some distant corner of the closet, just waiting to come out. For those who don’t have such a device, they should get one, because crock pot recipes represent the solution to all your problems.

No matter how busy your lifestyle is, you should always take the time to think about your health. Since health depends primarily on what you eat and drink, this should be your main concern for preserving your health. With the help of crockpot recipes, you can do just that.

What makes crock pot recipes so great is the fact that they don’t depend on the season. No matter if it is a cold winter with great snows outside, or a hot blazing summer that melts the bottom of your snickers, you will always find a solution with crockpot recipes.

Since we talked about cold winters, what is the best memory of your childhood regarding this season? My best memory is when I entered the house from playing in the snow and the smell of a home cooked meal comforted my nose. That is when I knew I was home.

This is one feeling you can preserve for your family, even if you are at work. Before you go to work, you can place the ingredients of the crock pot recipes in the slow cooker and turn it on. You can leave it all day long to cook and keep warm without worrying about it. When your loved ones come home, a smell of cooking will welcome them inside the house.

This is the main advantage of crock pot recipes in the winter. But what about the summer? When the sun melts the asphalt outside, should you be inside, cooking? The greatest benefit of the slow cooker is that it does not give off as much heat as a burning stove does. You can obtain the meal you want for your family without increasing the temperature in the entire house.

As you can see, crockpot recipes can satisfy the needs of every family member, regardless of the time of year. The best part of it all is that it can also save you a lot of money, because the device consumes as much energy as a normal light bulb, as opposed to other appliances.

As I mentioned at the beginning, if you have a slow cooker, take it out, and if you don’t, buy one. This device along with the wonderful crockpot recipes found at slowandsimple.com will provide all the meals that your family would never have dreamed of.

If you think that you are too busy to make homemade soup, think again! With your handy crock pot, cooking tasty homemade soup is a breeze. Just about any type of soup can be adapted to the crock pot, so you can come home after a long day to a nice warm bowl of soup. Add some crusty bread and you are all set for a relaxing evening at home.

Soup for the Crock Pot Cook

There is nothing as satisfying as ladling a warming soup into your bowl. When you use your crock pot, you can easily make soup from fresh or pre-packaged ingredients. Canned broth or creamed condensed soups make an easy base if you do not want to make one from scratch. Add vegetables, noodles, rice, or any other favorite ingredient and let it simmer all day long on low. Even if you are feeling under the weather, it only takes a few moments to throw some ingredients together and plug in the crock pot. Later in the day, you will have a wonderful, nutritious soup to soothe your throat and make you feel better.

What Kind of Soups Can You Make in a Crock Pot?

Add some stock or broth and your favorite vegetables before you leave for work. When you get home, add some noodles and let it cook for about half an hour. Before you know it, you have some lovely chicken noodle soup or beef noodle soup all ready for dinner. If you prefer dumplings, add them instead of the noodles for a filling meal. If you have leftover ham, you can easily make a tasty bean or split pea soup for a cold winter night. For bean soup, it does take a little planning, since the beans must be soaked overnight before adding them to your soup.

Chowders are perfect for the crock pot. Since they are usually milk based, scorching is a concern when making seafood chowders from scratch on the stove. In the crock pot, add your ingredients and set the pot on low. When you come home, you’ll have the best tasting clam or seafood chowder you’ve ever tasted, perfectly prepared every time. Just drop in the oyster crackers before you serve each bowl.

Just about any combination of ingredients can be thrown into the crock pot to make soup. If you have some kielbasa in the refrigerator, make some soup! Sausage, hamburger, potatoes, broccoli… they can all be used to make soup in the crock pot. If you prefer vegetarian fare, pumpkin soup is easy to make with pumpkin or squash, parsnips, apples, potatoes and some seasonings. Just puree it at the end of cooking with a stick mixer and you will have a tasty bowl of goodness to warm you through and through.

Crock pots are also an excellent choice for stews of all kinds especially when using cuts of meat that may be not quite so tender for budget reasons. This is not so much a problem in a crock pot or slow cooker as the process naturally tenderizes the meat and makes for a very flavorful stew. All you need to do is cut up into bite sized pieces some meat and sear it in a pan and add to this some sautéed mushrooms, onions and some of your favorite vegetables in bite size pieces, cover in liquid (wine works nice), season, and let cook on low all day. At the end add a roux to this to thicken the sauce and you have a wonderful hunter’s stew.

I am having an x-mas get-together tomorrow around 10:30- I’m going to make cocktail meatballs and I want them to cook in the sauce awhile to really absorb the flavor, but I don’t know how long is TOO long in the crock-pot….? Can I start making them now, should I do it overnight…? What do you recommend?

Thank you! :) Also, they are frozen meatballs (Since that seems to make a difference) :)

I’m having a decent sized New Years Eve party tomorrow night and I’m making tacos with ground turkey. I make them plain with just salt & pepper and I was wondering if there was any way I could cook the meat in a crock pot since I have so much to make and it would be so time consuming to cook it all on the stove…

What about with some water and I could strain it??
